FAQ & Policies

SHIPPING & INSURANCE

How will I receive my order?

We ship orders via Fedex, UPS, DHL, and USPS. We usually ship orders out in 2 business days but this might take longer during high volume periods like sales promotions and holidays. We'll send you your tracking number when the order ships.

Once the carrier has your package, it's not usually possible for us to make changes.

If shipping to a P.O. Box, you must use a USPS shipping service.

Do you offer free shipping?

Within the 48 contiguous United States, shipping is free on orders over $75. Shipping will be calculated for orders below the free shipping threshold and for other states, territories, and overseas.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! We just added new international shipping options. Choose from USPS or FedEx to receive your order in 2 - 9 days.

Do you take any efforts to ship sustainably?

We sure do! Our shipping boxes are made from recycled content and printed with natural ink. We use only recyclable void-fill and padding to protect items during shipping - never bubble or synthetic materials. While this works for 99% of orders, if something does break, please reach out to us and we'll get your a replacement as soon as possible (see DAMAGES section below for more information).

What happens if something is damaged when I receive it?

If an item has been damaged in transit, please contact info@cgco.co and forward a picture of the damages, including a picture of the lot number which is located on the back of the product under the label. Damages will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. For peace of mind, we offer package protection via Route, which guarantees you're covered should anything happen to the package in transit (some restrictions apply, see section below).

What's the deal with Route?

Package Protection powered by Route offers insurance on your order, so if anything should happen in transit, you're covered! When you opt into Package Protection during checkout, you will then have access to Route's suite of services. Coverage includes package tracking, issue resolution, and claims filing (should anything happen to the package). They even offer 100% carbon neutral shipping!

How does carbon neutral shipping work?

First, the amount of carbon that's generated between Point A (our warehouse) and Point B (the package's final destination) is determined. Route then compensates by donating funds to reforestation projects that will offset the carbon usage, all included in the cost of the package protection!

Read more about Green Package protection on Route's website.

What do I do if something happens to the package in transit?

Unfortunately, things don't always go to plan with shipping. Sometimes packages get sent to the wrong places, products get broken during transit, and they can even disappear from your front door after delivery! With Route's Package Protection, you can file a claim for any of the above issues that might arise. We strongly recommend choosing this protection plan, as packages are no longer under our control once they leave our facility and liability lies with the shipping carrier. Common Good is not responsible for any packages that are stolen or missing in transit. Damaged packages will be reviewed for liability.

Claims with Route can be filed here. Please be sure to have either your Common Good order number or Route order number on hand. Your claim will be reviewed by Route within 24 hours and they will assess whether a reissue or refund will be appropriate. Please note Route Package Protection does have some restrictions and requires certain criteria to be met for a claim to be approved. You can read their policies here.

How much does Route cost?

The service costs $0.98 for orders up to $100 and a 2% charge for the value of the items above that price point.

What if I opt out of Route's Package Protection and something happens?

As we've outlined in the sections above, once a package leaves our facility, we are no longer responsible for any damage, theft, or loss of items. The only way to guarantee coverage in the event of one of these issues is to opt into the Route protection plan (some restrictions apply). We purposely set the price to be as affordable as possible so customers will take advantage of it for their own peace of mind, as things do happen and it's better to be covered! If you opt out of the protection plan, we will do what we can to try to reasonably help remedy the situation, but Common Good is not responsible for issues with a package once it leaves our hands.

Full Shipping Policy

Common Good partners with UPS, FedEx, DHL, and USPS to provide reliable delivery services. Within the 48 contiguous United States, shipping is free on orders over $75. For orders below this threshold and for shipments to other states and territories, shipping costs will be calculated at checkout. We process and ship orders within 3-5 business days. Delivery estimates provided at checkout are based on this processing time and may be extended during holidays or due to other unforeseen circumstances.

To ensure your order reaches you as quickly as possible, we reserve the right to switch carriers if it means maintaining or improving the delivery service level selected during checkout. For orders shipping to P.O. Boxes, USPS must be selected at checkout. If a different carrier is selected, your package will be returned to us, and a refund will be issued for the goods, minus the shipping cost.

International Shipping

We offer international shipping to select countries, with shipping costs calculated at checkout based on destination and order weight. International orders are also processed within 3-5 business days, but delivery times may vary due to customs clearance and other factors outside our control.

Please be aware that international shipments may be subject to customs duties, taxes, or import fees, which are the customer’s responsibility. These fees are not included in the shipping cost and will be collected by the carrier upon delivery. By placing an international order, you acknowledge and accept the risks associated with international shipping, including potential delays and additional fees.

Common Good is not liable for lost, damaged, or delayed packages once they leave the United States. However, we will make every effort to assist in resolving any issues with the carrier. Tracking information will be provided when your order ships, so you can monitor its progress to your destination.

This policy is subject to change without notice. Please review it regularly for any updates.

RETURNS & EXCHANGES

What is your return policy?

If you are unhappy with any item purchased from www.commongoodandco.com, we accept returns and exchanges on unused and unopened items within 30 days.

To maintain the best possible prices, we do not cover the cost of shipping returns and exchanges.

The limited return window is to ensure the freshest product for all our customers. Please see our return policy here, or reach out to info@cgco.co for more details.

If you have a quality problem with any of our products, please contact info@cgco.co for assistance.

Sale items and international shipping orders are not eligible for return.

If you have a problem with a product you purchased from one of our retailer partners, please reach out to them directly as we can't provide returns for products purchased from a third party.

Once the carrier has your package, it's not usually possible for us to make changes.

If shipping to a P.O. Box, you must use a USPS shipping service.

My cap broke, can you send me a new one?

Yes! Just email us at info@cgco.co and let us know which product cap you need and we'll send it right out.

REUSABLE PACKAGING

Why use refillable packaging?

Our mission is to reduce single-use packaging. Did you know that according to the EPA, only 28% of HDPE (type #2) plastic is collected for recycling in the USA? The rest is going into landfill, incinerators or the ocean. That's crazy.

What's the deal with your refill boxes?

Our new refill box packaging is so great, it gets its own page!

Click here to head our Refill Box FAQs

Are there retailers near me where I can fill up my bottles?

We wanted to refill our bottles to keep that plastic out of the system so we created refill stations so you can bring your bottle back to the store and refill it over and over again, saving plastic and money. Click here to read more about our Refill Stations.

Head over to our locations page to find a refill station near you or let us know if you'd like to see one in your local store.

Can I recycle any of your packaging?

Yes. If you know us, you know our mission for the past 12 years has been to reduce single-use plastic packaging. True, this pouch is made from plastic, but unlike other pouches, it's made from one type of plastic and is recyclable! LLDPE plastic is #4 type, however, as a film, it's still not recyclable through many curbside collection services. But fear not- it is recyclable at most supermarkets and pharmacies! To recycle this pouch, please cut the spigot out and rinse any residual soap from the plastic film. Then use this website to find your nearest drop-off point.

We realize this is not the easiest way to recycle and we're working on plastic-free alternatives. In the meantime, thank you for putting in the effort to help save the environment by recycling!

What's your Closed Loop Program?

As you've probably noticed, we do everything we can to mitigate waste and keep plastics out of landfills. Part of that initiative is our Closed Loop program, which is a method for reusing some of our plastic packaging. The liners in our box refills can be sent back to us for cleaning, processing, and refilling! Just follow the instructions on the Refill Box FAQs pageto return. We even cover the shipping. Please note that we require a minimum of 4 liners to return.

Please note that this program is not available for international customers. Sadly, shipping the liners back to us creates more waste than recycling them in your home country.

INGREDIENTS

What's in your products?

We believe in transparency and keeping our customers informed. That's why we've always listed all of the ingredients in each of our products. Visit the page below to find definitions of all the ingredients we use, what they are and why we use them.

Click here for full ingredient list and information

Are your products safe for everyone in my household?

Our products are gentle enough to use around kids and pets. They're phthalate, sulfate, and paraben free, and don't use harsh chemicals that contribute VOCs into the air. So rest assured our products won't hurt your most vulnerable family members.

Is there perfume in your products?

It's really important to us that we don't expose our kids or pets to harmful chemicals. Synthetic fragrances are made from many different compounds, some of which contain hormone disruptors like phthalates. We think it's better to stick to well-tested 100% pure essential oils. Oils can have strong properties too but we feel they're well tested and a better choice so we can decide what we want to bring into our home.

What about the formulations?

All our formulations are 100% readily biodegradable and free from harsh chemicals. They're concentrated to cut down on the carbon footprint made when moving product around the country. They don't have any unnecessary bells or whistles like dyes or strong fragrances. Just what you need, nothing you don't. We know from experience that they work really well and welcome any feedback!

LAUNDRY DETERGENT

I have family members with skin sensitivities, is your detergent safe for them?

Our laundry detergent is great for people with sensitivities, including babies and kids with eczema. We don't use any optical brighteners or harsh chemicals. It's best to stick with unscented products if you're prone to sensitivities but our 100% pure essential oil scented product washes clear so you shouldn't have any chemical residue to cause problems.

Is your detergent optimal for my HE washing machine?

Our formulation is specially designed for High-Efficiency machines (HE). That means it's concentrated and has a low foam profile. You can still use it in top loaders but you'll have to use 1.5 - 2x more. Make sure you only use the recommended dose to avoid soapy residues which can attract dirt to clothes and linens. It's also the best way to keep the product affordable and out of the water system!

How much detergent should I use?

A regular load in a high efficiency (HE) machine uses 2/3 fl oz (20 mL). A top loaded uses more water and needs 1-2/3 fl oz (40 mL).

Our new bottles don't have a measuring cap but we are happy to send you a measuring cup so you don't use more detergent than you need.

Using more detergent than we recommend can make it hard for your machine to rinse away. If fabrics aren't rinsed properly, detergent residue can attract dirt.

What's up with your new bottle?

Our old bottle had a measuring cap, which was helpful for dosing detergent, but was messy. We heard the complaints and found a bottle that isn't so drippy. It holds the same volume and we are happy to send you a measuring cup at no charge.

Can I use your detergent for delicates or hand washing?

Yes! Our detergent is gentle enough to use on your delicate washer setting.

For hand washing, add a small amount - like a teaspoon - of detergent in a small sink or bowl. Gently squeeze the soapy water through the garment. Rinse well and dry as recommended on the label.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Do you test on animals?

Nope. We're certified cruelty free by the Leaping Bunny Organization. That means that we don't test on animals, nor does our supply chain.

In addition, we don't use any animal-derived raw materials for our liquid products, meaning our Lactic Acid is derived from plant sugars and our enzymes come from hay or grass.

What about sustainability?

When we use corn-derived ingredients, they're coming from non-GMO sources. As for our palm oil-derived ingredients, they are certified sustainable by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil.

Are your products vegan?

Yes they are.

The service and all products and services delivered to you through the service are (except as expressly stated by us) provided 'as is' and 'as available' for your use, without any representation, warranties or conditions of any kind, either express or implied, including all implied warranties or conditions of merchantability, merchantable quality, fitness for a particular purpose, durability, title, and non-infringement.
In no case shall common good shop, our directors, officers, employees, affiliates, agents, contractors, interns, suppliers, service providers or licensors be liable for any injury, loss, claim, or any direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, special, or consequential damages of any kind, including, without limitation lost profits, lost revenue, lost savings, loss of data, replacement costs, or any similar damages, whether based in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability or otherwise, arising from your use of any of the service or any products procured using the service, or for any other claim related in any way to your use of the service or any product, including, but not limited to, any errors or omissions in any content, or any loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of the use of the service or any content (or product) posted, transmitted, or otherwise made available via the service, even if advised of their possibility. Because some states or jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or the limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, in such states or jurisdictions, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

SECTION 14 - INDEMNIFICATION

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless common good shop and our parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, officers, directors, agents, contractors, licensors, service providers, subcontractors, suppliers, interns and employees, harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, made by any third-party due to or arising out of your breach of these Terms of Service or the documents they incorporate by reference, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third-party.

SECTION 15 - SEVERABILITY

In the event that any provision of these Terms of Service is determined to be unlawful, void or unenforceable, such provision shall nonetheless be enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, and the unenforceable portion shall be deemed to be severed from these Terms of Service, such determination shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any other remaining provisions.

SECTION 16 - TERMINATION

The obligations and liabilities of the parties incurred prior to the termination date shall survive the termination of this agreement for all purposes.
These Terms of Service are effective unless and until terminated by either you or us. You may terminate these Terms of Service at any time by notifying us that you no longer wish to use our Services, or when you cease using our site.
If in our sole judgment you fail, or we suspect that you have failed, to comply with any term or provision of these Terms of Service, we also may terminate this agreement at any time without notice and you will remain liable for all amounts due up to and including the date of termination; and/or accordingly may deny you access to our Services (or any part thereof).

SECTION 17 - ENTIRE AGREEMENT

The failure of us to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms of Service shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
These Terms of Service and any policies or operating rules posted by us on this site or in respect to The Service constitutes the entire agreement and understanding between you and us and govern your use of the Service, superseding any prior or contemporaneous agreements, communications and proposals, whether oral or written, between you and us (including, but not limited to, any prior versions of the Terms of Service).
Any ambiguities in the interpretation of these Terms of Service shall not be construed against the drafting party.

SECTION 18 - GOVERNING LAW

These Terms of Service and any separate agreements whereby we provide you Services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of 135 Kent Ave, Brooklyn NY 11249.
