INGREDIENTS

What's in your products?

We believe in transparency and keeping our customers informed. That's why we've always listed all of the ingredients in each of our products. Visit the page below to find definitions of all the ingredients we use, what they are and why we use them.

Are your products safe for everyone in my household?

Our products are gentle enough to use around kids and pets. They're phthalate, sulfate, and paraben free, and don't use harsh chemicals that contribute VOCs into the air. So rest assured our products won't hurt your most vulnerable family members.

Do you use any harmful oils?

It's really important to us that we don't expose our kids or pets to harmful chemicals. Synthetic fragrances are made from many different compounds, some of which contain hormone disruptors like phthalates. We think it's better to stick to well-tested 100% pure essential oils. Oils can have strong properties too but we feel they're well tested and a better choice so we can decide what we want to bring into our home.

What about the formulations?

All our formulations are 100% readily biodegradable and free from harsh chemicals. They're concentrated to cut down on the carbon footprint made when moving product around the country. They don't have any unnecessary bells or whistles like dyes or strong fragrances. Just what you need, nothing you don't. We know from experience that they work really well and welcome any feedback!

LAUNDRY DETERGENT

I have family members with skin sensitivities, is your detergent safe for them?

Our laundry detergent is great for people with sensitivities, including babies and kids with eczema. We don't use any optical brighteners or harsh chemicals. It's best to stick with unscented products if you're prone to sensitivities but our 100% pure essential oil scented product washes clear so you shouldn't have any chemical residue to cause problems.

Is your detergent optimal for my HE washing machine?

Our formulation is specially designed for High-Efficiency machines (HE). That means it's concentrated and has a low foam profile. You can still use it in top loaders but you'll have to use 1.5 - 2x more. Make sure you only use the recommended dose to avoid soapy residues which can attract dirt to clothes and linens. It's also the best way to keep the product affordable and out of the water system!

REUSABLE PACKAGING

Why use refillable packaging?

Our mission is to reduce single-use packaging. Did you know that according to the EPA, only 28% of HDPE (type #2) plastic is collected for recycling in the USA? The rest is going into landfill, incinerators or the ocean. That's crazy.

What's the deal with your refill boxes?

Are there retailers near me where I can fill up my boxes?
Can I recycle any of your packaging?

Yes! If you know us, you know our mission for the past 12 years has been to reduce single-use plastic packaging. True, this pouch is made from plastic, but unlike other pouches, it's made from one type of plastic and is recyclable! LLDPE plastic is #4 type, however, as a film, it's still not recyclable through many curbside collection services. But fear not- it is recyclable at most supermarkets and pharmacies! To recycle this pouch, please cut the spigot out and rinse any residual soap from the plastic film. Then use this website to find your nearest drop-off point.

We realize this is not the easiest way to recycle and we're working on plastic-free alternatives. In the meantime, thank you for putting in the effort to help save the environment by recycling!

What's your Closed Loop Program?

As you've probably noticed, we do everything we can to mitigate waste and keep plastics out of landfills. Part of that initiative is our Closed Loop program, which is a method for reusing some of our plastic packaging. The liners in our box refills can be sent back to us for cleaning, processing, and refilling! Just follow the instructions on the Refill Box FAQs page to return. We even cover the shipping. Please note that we require a minimum of 4 liners to return.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Do you test on animals?

Nope. We're certified cruelty free by the Leaping Bunny Organization. That means that we don't test on animals, nor does our supply chain.

In addition, we don't use any animal-derived raw materials for our liquid products, meaning our Lactic Acid is derived from plant sugars and our enzymes come from hay or grass.

What about sustainability?

When we use corn-derived ingredients, they're coming from non-GMO sources. As for our palm oil-derived ingredients, they are certified sustainable by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil.

SHIPPING AND INSURANCE

How will I receive my order?

We ship orders via Fedex, UPS, DHL, and USPS. We usually ship orders out in 1 - 3 business days but this might take longer over holidays. We'll send you your tracking number when the order ships.

As of now, we are only able to ship to the USA and Canada. For Canadian customers, please note we do not manage customs and duty, so you may see an additional duty charge from the Canadian government.

Do you offer free shipping?

Within the 48 contiguous United States, shipping is free on orders over $65. Shipping will be calculated for orders below the free shipping threshold and for other states and territories. We know this is a change from years past, when we have offered a flat rate for smaller orders. The rising cost of shipping has made it necessary for us to make these changes. Thanks for understanding.

Do you take any efforts to ship sustainably?

We sure do! To minimize the fuel needed to get orders to your door, we have located our fulfillment warehouse to the center of the USA. Our shipping boxes are made from recycled content and printed with natural ink. We use only recyclable void-fill and padding to protect items during shipping - never bubble or synthetic materials. While this works for 99% of orders, if something does break, please reach out to us and we'll get your a replacement as soon as possible (see DAMAGES section below for more information).

What happens if something is damaged when I receive it?

If an item has been damaged in transit, please contact info@cgco.co and forward a picture of the damages, including a picture of the lot number which is located on the back of the product under the label. Damages will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. For peace of mind, we offer package protection via Route, which guarantees you're covered should anything happen to the package in transit (some restrictions apply, see section below).

PACKAGE PROTECTION

What's the deal with Route?

Package Protection powered by Route offers insurance on your order, so if anything should happen in transit, you're covered! When you opt into Package Protection during checkout, you will then have access to Route's suite of services. Coverage includes package tracking, issue resolution, and claims filing (should anything happen to the package). They even offer 100% carbon neutral shipping!

How does carbon neutral shipping work?

First, the amount of carbon that's generated between Point A (our warehouse) and Point B (the package's final destination) is determined. Route then compensates by donating funds to reforestation projects that will offset the carbon usage, all included in the cost of the package protection!

Read more about Green Package protection on Route's website.

What do I do if something happens to the package in transit?

Unfortunately, things don't always go to plan with shipping. Sometimes packages get sent to the wrong places, products get broken during transit, and they can even disappear from your front door after delivery! With Route's Package Protection, you can file a claim for any of the above issues that might arise. We strongly recommend choosing this protection plan, as packages are no longer under our control once they leave our facility and liability lies with the shipping carrier. Common Good is not responsible for any packages that are stolen or missing in transit. Damaged packages will be reviewed for liability.

Claims with Route can be filed here. Please be sure to have either your Common Good order number or Route order number on hand. Your claim will be reviewed by Route within 24 hours and they will assess whether a reissue or refund will be appropriate. Please note Route Package Protection does have some restrictions and requires certain criteria to be met for a claim to be approved. You can read their policies here.

How much does it cost?

The service costs $0.98 for orders up to $100 and a 2% charge for the value of the items above that price point.

What if I opt out of Route's Package Protection and something happens?

As we've outlined in the sections above, once a package leaves our facility, we are no longer responsible for any damage, theft, or loss of items. The only way to guarantee coverage in the event of one of these issues is to opt into the Route protection plan (some restrictions apply). We purposely set the price to be as affordable as possible so customers will take advantage of it for their own peace of mind, as things do happen and it's better to be covered! If you opt out of the protection plan, we will do what we can to try to reasonably help remedy the situation, but Common Good is not responsible for issues with a package once it leaves our hands.
