How to Clean & Protect Winter Woolens

Keep winter woolens looking and feeling great for generations.

1. WASH - Handwash or machine wash on a gentle/wool cycle using a small amount of mild detergent. Too much detergent can leave residue that attracts dirt.

2. DRY - Lay flat on a clean towel in a warm area. Turn over after a few hours to ensure even drying. Avoid hanging to prevent stretching.

3. STORE - Fold and store on a flat surface or in a drawer. Add cedar balls or herbal sachets to keep insects away naturally.

4. REFRESH - Lightly spritz with Linen Water between washes. Let dry completely before wearing or storing.

More Care tips for woolens

Spot Clean First: Tackle small stains with a damp cloth and mild detergent to avoid over-washing.

Use Cool Water: Always wash with cool or lukewarm water to prevent shrinking and felting.

Avoid Overloading: When using a washing machine, don’t crowd woolens—they need space to move gently.

Skip the Fabric Softener: Wool stays soft naturally; fabric softener can coat fibers and reduce breathability.

Brush Off Debris: Use a soft brush to remove surface dust or lint before washing or storing.

Rotate Items: Alternate wear to give fibers a break and help them maintain their shape.

Store Dry: Always make sure woolens are completely dry before storing to avoid mildew or odor.

Handle with Care: When moving wet woolens, support their full weight to prevent stretching.

Don’t Fold Heavy Knits: Instead, roll larger items like blankets to avoid creases.
